You guys have probably heard of the storm that hit our country yesterday. My family and I are lucky enough to be living in a place that is hardly ever affected by storms and flooding (we live pretty high up in Sta. Rosa, and the most we got of the damage were leaky kitchen roofs--nothing else) but so many others suffered immensely, my relatives included. This is one of the most devastating calamities that have struck the Philippines where people from even well-to-do and usually secure places were not spared of the horrible blow (hamster_friend, glad you and your family--and doggie--are all right!) Right now I'm torn between being thankful for not having been physically affected by the disaster and continuing to worry about friends and family who have.

For those who want to help, you can run a quick search online. the_raccoondog has a very useful post up. People in my area, they're accepting relief goods at St John Bosco Parish. I'm sure CDBS and DLSC will follow suit asap.

This is absolutely horrible. I am thinking of you and your friends and family, and all of the other people affected, and hope that help will soon reach all those who need it!

For the record, I'm ridiculously glad you're safe. I was stuck in Manila during the worst of the storm, and earlier in the day even waded (part of the way in a pedicab) through hip-deep water in front of the Philippine General Hospital (I was coming from an org meeting about, guess what, war and calamities). But I was safe for the rest of the day because my apartment's way up on the 11th floor. We're lucky we're safe. *HUUUUG*

*off to hunt down a medical mission*
